The rotated players show a pattern. Gyökeres, Eze and Merino started, and Gyökeres had little to work with against ten men behind the ball. He's a striker who needs space to run into, and a low block takes that away. The two players who made the difference, Tzolis and Havertz, came off the bench.
The goal is the lesson. It came from quick one-touch passing in a small space, not from crosses. Ødegaard now has goals against City, Coventry, Chelsea and Napoli. He's the most reliable way through a packed defence.
