The idea: Lewis-Skelly as a Half-Back drops to the left of the centre-backs, which frees Calafiori to move inside as an Inverted Full-Back while Tzolis stays wide: the opposing right-back faces two players. You need a calm deep midfielder, a left-back comfortable in midfield and a winger who wins 1v1s.

What if? Replay it with a different plan
Our best alternative plan: Gyökeres on at 60' (for Havertz), Eze on at 60' not 76' (for Tzolis). The plan worked; the gap was chance quality. Put Gyökeres on at the hour to give the cut-backs a second target, and bring Eze on earlier to play in the tight spaces around Coventry's box. Arsenal had 20 shots and 64% of the ball but only 1.88 xG, because Coventry defended deep and most shots came from outside the box. Havertz drops and links; Gyökeres stays between the centre-backs and attacks the cut-back. Against a side that made its first tackle in the 69th minute, a second-half spell for him could have turned a comfortable win into a bigger one.
Victor Osimhen
The problem was not control but what Arsenal did in the box: 20 shots, six on target, 1.88 xG. Osimhen's game is attacking the space between centre-back and full-back and getting on the end of low crosses and cut-backs, the exact deliveries Calafiori, Tzolis and White kept putting in. Against a deep block, that turns volume into quality.

The easiest kind of dominance to misread.
Twenty shots but only 1.88 xG: most of Arsenal's attempts were low-quality, from a side that had the ball 64% of the time against a newly promoted team that barely pressed. The scoreline and the control were real. The chance quality was only good, not overwhelming.
What mattered was the mechanism. Lewis-Skelly dropping to the left of the centre-backs is what let Calafiori move inside and Tzolis stay wide. That turned the left flank into a 2v1 against van Ewijk, and it produced both first-half goals. It's the same left-side idea as in the Community Shield, now in the league.
White's overlap for the third goal was the other useful sign. When the left is blocked, the right can still create.
